Event Overview

The ESRI East Africa 2025 Young Scholars Awards recognized three outstanding students from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, with Mr. Peter Thuku winning first place, followed by Mr. Paul Wainaina and Ms. Faith Talam as runners-up. Two of these winners, Mr. Thuku who is an RSRG member and Ms. Talam, conducted their undergraduate research under the BMBF-MC2FM project (grant no. 01DG24001), which implements participatory approaches to address climate change and forest restoration in the Muringato Catchment. The event was held on Friday, 11thApril 2025 at the ESRI East Africa offices in Nairobi, Kenya, where the students presented their research findings to a panel of judges. They were all awarded an Internship Offer at Esri East Africa. On top of the internship, the 1st Runners Up will get a funded trip to the Esri Eastern Africa user conference in Mombasa from 7th - 8th May 2025, and Position 1 will travel to the 2025 ESRI User Conference in San Diego, California, USA from 14th -18th July 2025, to be awarded before over 25,000 participants across the world, a fully funded trip by ESRI Inc.  Click here to view More Event Details.
